Things to do in and around Crawley
Places to Visit
Nymans Gardens - National Trust gardens just south of Crawley at Handcross. Trees, shrubs and plants from around the world.
Wakehurst Place - At Ardingly south east of Crawley, The Royal Botanic Gardens, locals call it Kew in the country. Formal gardens, natural woodlands, wetlands, fields and meadows.
Standen - At East Grinstead, east of Crawley, a fine 1890's house with William Morris textiles and furnishings.
Hever Castle - Near Edenbridge - 13th Century moated castle.
Arundel Castle - Built in the 11th century and rebuilt at regular intervals over the following 700 years this castle is the last word in the castle business. It's a marvellous piece of
history and still in daily use as a residence.
World Wildfowl Trust - Also at Arundel, a splendid day out watching birds in natural surroundings. I have spent many pleasant days here with the family.
Pagham Harbour - South of Chichester, a wild bird sanctuary where birders can spend many hours profitably. I spend a lot of time here too.
Amberley Museum - The museum that works, see how it was made / works. A great day out for the family
